AWARD-WINNING PROFESSIONAL WOMEN’S ORGANIZATION RAISES FUNDS FOR SERVICE TO MONTGOMERY AND CHESTER COUNTIES
The Montgomery County (PA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will host a jazz brunch fundraiser to support the Chapter’s award-winning services at an event featuring guest speaker Jo Ann Jenkins, CEO of AARP, and Emmy award winning journalist and communications leader Monique Braxton, Mistress of Ceremonies. The event will be held in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, on September 28, 2024.
King of Prussia, PA – Chartered in 1976, The Montgomery County (PA) Chapter of the Links Incorporated (the “Chapter”) serves both Montgomery and Chester Counties in Pennsylvania, and during this time has provided programs, services, and talents through numerous projects. Chapter membership consists of 35 active women of color including, physicians, dentists, veterinarians, attorneys, accountants, engineers, global corporate executives and leaders in higher education. In the midst of extremely demanding schedules and careers, these local community leaders committed over 3,200 volunteer hours within the past year.
Guided by Chapter president, Crystal Gifford-Jackson of Montgomery County, PA, Chapter members are committed to educational, cultural, and civic activities that enrich their communities. The Links, Incorporated and the Chapter have five areas of focus for programming, referred to as “Facets,” through which volunteer services are delivered: The Arts, National Trends & Services, International Trends & Services, Services to Youth, and Health & Human Services. In addition to the Facets, the Chapter also offers scholarships to deserving high school seniors pursuing a college education. Over the past 10 years, scholarship grants have been awarded totaling over $100,000.
Chapter members have planned an exciting event. The Jazz Brunch Fundraiser – “Timeless Harmony” – will take place Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the Normandy Farm Hotel and Conference Center at 12:00 PM. Along with the smooth sounds of the Philayva Jazz Band, guests will hear remarks from Jo Ann Jenkins, CEO of AARP, the world’s largest non-profit, nonpartisan membership organization, with almost 2,300 staff members, 60,000 volunteers and numerous strategic partners. Additionally, Emmy- winning storyteller, Broadcast Hall of Famer and communications leader, Monique Braxton will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the event. Ms. Braxton’s experience includes NBC10/WCAU in Philadelphia and MSNBC. She is the current deputy chief of communications and spokesperson for the School District of Philadelphia.
Proceeds raised from the event will benefit the Chapter’s charitable and educational programming and The Links Foundation, Incorporated.
